The upgraded 3PE coated steel pipe differs from the ordinary larger ones by having a thicker anti-corrosion layer. Generally, the thickness of ordinary seamless steel pipes is 2.0mm, while the upgraded thickness is 2.7mm.
3PE upgrading anti-corrosion typically consists of a three-layer structure:
One coat of epoxy powder (FBE > 100um)
Two-layer adhesive (AD) 170-250um
Third-layer Polyethylene (PE) 2.5-3.7mm
The process involves blending three raw materials into a cohesive mixture, which is then processed to form a robust bond with the seamless steel tube, resulting in an excellent anti-corrosion coating. The production methods typically include winding and round mold wrapping.
The coating thickness of standard 3PE coated steel pipes typically ranges between 2.0 to 2.3mm, whereas the upgraded 3PE coated steel pipes have a thickness of 2.7 to 2.8mm. In other words, the upgraded 3PE coated steel pipes offer enhanced corrosion resistance and a longer lifespan. In summary, the 3PE premium coated steel pipe is a product with superior corrosion resistance, and it is also significantly more expensive than standard products. The difference in thickness between the upgrade and the standard is generally 0.7mm, for example, a diameter of 406mm: standard 2.2mm, upgrade 2.9mm. Diameter 508mm: standard 2.5mm, upgrade 3.2mm.
Accurate measurement of 3PE coated steel pipe thickness is ensured by professional machinery, guaranteeing quality and precise thickness.
The 3PE upgraded anti-corrosion steel pipe structure consists of three layers: one layer of epoxy powder, one layer of adhesive, and one layer of polyethylene. The three raw materials are integrated into one, forming a strong bond with the seamless steel pipe to produce an excellent anti-corrosion coating.
Advantages: 1. The 3PE anti-corrosion steel pipe pipeline boasts exceptional tightness, significantly saving resources and reducing costs over long-term operation while protecting the ecological environment. 2. It has strong anti-corrosion capabilities, with construction simplicity and a service life of 30-50 years. 3. It also exhibits excellent anti-corrosion and impact resistance at low temperatures, with low PE water absorption. 4. Additionally, it features high compressive strength of epoxy resin, low PE water absorption, and good flexibility of heat melt adhesive film, offering high anti-corrosion reliability. This type of anti-corrosion has the characteristics of simple processing, excellent anti-corrosion effect, high quality at a reasonable price, and is widely recognized by the pipeline processing industry. 2. Anti-corrosion for three-layer polyethylene (3PE) and two-layer polyethylene (2PE) seamless steel pipes used in petrochemical industries, standards: SY/T0413-2002; DIN 30670.
The 3PE anti-corrosion coating typically uses liquid epoxy resin or fused epoxy powder as the topcoat. Our factory opts for fused epoxy powder. The epoxy powder is immediately coated onto the surface of the seamless steel pipe due to electrostatic induction, forming an organic chemical bond with polymer adhesives, offering excellent anti-corrosion and anti-negative detachment properties. The inner layer consists of a polymer adhesive, which bonds securely with the bottom epoxy powder and the outer polyethylene protective layer. It has a strong organic chemical bond with the epoxy powder base, capable of withstanding shear stress caused by soil movement and temperature changes. The outer layer is a dense polyethylene protective layer with excellent moisture resistance, safeguarding the epoxy powder and adhesive layers. This three-layer structure exhibits excellent resistance to solvent erosion and impact resistance.
