Mastering the proper construction methods for dredging vessels is crucial for enhancing their efficiency. Below is a brief introduction to the construction methods of dredging vessels.

Before dredging operations, control guides are set along both banks of the excavation channel, fixed, prominent control piles are established at each section, and colored flags of different hues are used to mark the left and right opening lines of the river channel to ensure that the deviation of the river centerline does not exceed the design requirements. Water levels are installed on the winch frame to control the depth, allowing for real-time observation and timely adjustments to the dredging depth.

a. Direction of Excavation Determination: To analyze the impact of water flow direction on the construction efficiency of the dredging ship, both downstream and upstream excavation tests were conducted during the construction process. The results show that the efficiency of the downstream excavation for sediment removal is lower, with a sand content of approximately 7% to 10% (by volume, as follows), while the upstream excavation is more efficient, with a sand content reaching 10% to 12%, up to 17%. Additionally, during downstream excavation, due to water pressure, the underwater pipeline for transporting sediment is prone to bending, which affects the construction to some extent; however, during upstream excavation, the pipeline remains clear.

b. Slope Excavation: Designed with a slope excavation ratio of 1:5, the excavation method follows the technical specifications for dredging construction, utilizing a stepped excavation technique with lower overburden and upper underburden, allowing natural collapse to form the slope, with a slope ratio close to 1:4-1:6.
