Fire hazards are omnipresent, with tens of thousands of fires occurring in our country each year. Textile materials are extensively used in clothing and household life, often becoming the ignition source for fires, releasing toxic gases, and directly endangering human health. Statistics show that approximately 20% of residential fires worldwide are caused by textiles, and over 50% of deaths are attributed to textile fires; fire retardancy in textiles is one of the global challenges of the present. In certain special occasions, such as the uniforms worn by firefighters, steelworkers, welders, chemical plant workers, oil refinery workers, and oil field drillers, as well as combat uniforms for soldiers, fire retardant properties are necessary. Additionally, they must be flame-resistant without droplets to prevent secondary burns. In many civilian settings, such as in hotels, auditoriums, stage decorations, and the upholstery of vehicles like planes, trains, and cars, as well as children's clothing, fire retardancy should also be a feature.
Traditional flame-retardant materials have several drawbacks: they are prone to melting, have poor effectiveness, and cannot be dyed. The main types of flame-retardant fabrics on the market currently are: 1. Most common and low-to-medium grade flame-retardant fabrics primarily use flame-retardant modified chemical fibers, which have poor flame-retardant performance, are not resistant to washing, or can produce severe smoke, toxic gases, and molten droplets after combustion. 2. High-end flame-retardant fabrics are mainly made of high-performance flame-retardant fibers (e.g., DuPont Kevlar 1313), which are expensive, have poor softness, and do not provide a good wearing experience.
