A wide variety of reactive dyes exist, with significant quality variations. Choosing dyes that meet the dyeing quality standards is crucial.

1. The use of dyes with dual and multi-active groups: azo-type reactive dyes form ester bonds with fibers, showing poor acid stability; sulphone-type dyes bond with fibers via ether links, exhibiting poor alkaline stability. Dyes with dual active groups enhance resistance to both acids and alkalis.

2. Selecting Direct Dyes: Active dyes (such as sulfonated active dyes) with too high directness have poor diffusion properties, causing the dye to accumulate on the fabric surface and not easily penetrate into the fibers. This leads to excessive floating color and difficulty in cleaning. However, the directness should also not be too low to affect the fixation rate. Therefore, a moderate directness is preferable for active dyes, which can be determined by the data provided by the dye supplier.

Choose high-fastness dyes: High-fastness dyes have less run-off, with a fastness rate over 80%, resulting in relatively less run-off after dyeing, which is beneficial for removing excess dye.

4. Opt for high-boosting dyes in dyeing process design. The dye amount should generally not exceed 10% of the saturation value, as excessive dye cannot be fully absorbed, leading to insufficient fixation. Unfixed dye adheres to the surface of the dyed item, affecting its wet rubbing fastness. For deep colors, it is essential to use dyes with high exhaustion rate, high fixation rate, and high boosting power, such as active dyes with dual or multiple active groups.
