Differentiating Cotton Yarn from Cotton Blended Yarn

Cotton yarn does not spark when burning, whereas man-made cotton yarn does spark and burns at a faster rate.

2. Cotton yarn, when moistened, does not see a decrease in strength, whereas man-made cotton yarn experiences a significant drop in strength upon wetting, with the wet strength being much less than the dry strength.

3. Place cotton yarn and man-made cotton yarn in a glass of water simultaneously. Due to the better permeability of man-made cotton yarn, it will sink to the bottom of the glass first, while the cotton yarn will take a bit longer (however, it is worth noting that cotton yarn that has been pre-processed but not washed with alkali liquid to remove sizing will also become wet and sink immediately due to the alkali's permeative action). By combining these three methods, we can differentiate between cotton yarn and man-made cotton yarn.
