To achieve a clean, bright appearance and soft texture for clothing, a bleaching wash is necessary. This involves, after a regular wash and rinsing with clear water, heating the water to 60°C and adding an appropriate amount of bleaching agent based on the depth of the color. The process should be completed within 7-10 minutes to achieve a consistent color. During operation, the direction of adding the bleaching agent should match the rotation of the drum to prevent localized bleaching caused by the agent not being diluted with water quickly enough. Before bleaching, the drum should be filled with slightly higher water levels to facilitate the dilution of the bleaching water. After the clothing has been bleached to a consistent color, neutralize any remaining bleach in the water with baking soda (Na2CO3) or sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) to stop the bleaching process. Once rinsed, add detergent, fluorescent whitening agent, hydrogen peroxide, and other cleaning agents at 50°C to wash and neutralize the pH, perform whitening, and then proceed with the softening treatment.

Washing can be categorized into oxygen bleaching and chlorine bleaching.

Oxygen bleaching utilizes the oxidation effect of hydrogen peroxide under specific pH levels and temperatures to break down the dye structure, thereby achieving color fading and whitening. Typically, the bleached fabric will have a slight reddish hue. Chlorine bleaching uses the oxidizing effect of sodium hypochlorite to destroy the dye structure for color fading. The fading effect of chlorine bleaching is coarse and is commonly used for washing indigo denim. After bleaching, it should be neutralized with sodium metabisulfite to stop the bleaching process, and then proceed with stone washing, known as BLEACH STONE E.
