What are the properties and applications of acrylic yarn?

Elasticity: It has good elasticity, second only to polyester, and about twice as high as nylon. It also boasts good shape retention.

Acrylic fiber's strength is lower than polyester and nylon, but it is 1 to 2.5 times higher than wool.

Thermal Resistance: The fiber's temperature range is 190~230°C, ranking second only to polyester among synthetic fibers.

Lightfastness: Acrylic has excellent lightfastness among all synthetic fibers, maintaining only a 20% strength reduction after one year of outdoor exposure. It is resistant to acids, oxidizers, and general organic solvents but not to alkalis.

Acrylic fiber products have excellent bulkiness, warmth retention, soft texture, and good climate resistance, as well as anti-mold and anti-pest properties. The warmth retention of acrylic fiber is about 15% higher than that of wool. Acrylic fiber can be blended with wool, and the products are mostly used in civil applications, such as yarn, blankets, knitted sportswear, canvas, curtains, artificial fur, plush, etc. Acrylic fiber is also a raw material for high-tech products like carbon fiber.
