Single yarn slivers refer to a phenomenon where one or several cross-row loops on the surface of a fabric are larger or smaller than the others, or unevenly spaced. In real production, single yarn slivers caused by raw materials are quite common.

a. Poor yarn quality, color discrepancies in single filaments like tight twisted yarn, unsuitable batch chemical long fibers, uncolored long fibers, or the use of yarns with different counts mixed together directly lead to the formation of horizontal stripes in single filaments.

b. Significant differences in the size of the yarn cones or the presence of bulges and sagging on the cake itself can lead to uneven tension during unwinding, which easily results in cross stripes on the yarn. This is because the varying sizes of the cones cause differences in their winding points and unwinding air bubble diameters, and the variation in tension during unwinding is necessarily much greater. During the weaving process, when the tension differences reach a high value, it can cause uneven yarn feed, resulting in inconsistent coil sizes.

During the processing with porous and ultra-fine denier materials, the yarn track should be as smooth as possible. A slightly rough or oil-soaked guide hook can easily cause multiple single filaments to break, resulting in color differences among the filaments. Compared to processing with conventional materials, it is more demanding on the equipment and more prone to produce cross strips in the fabric.

d. Inadequate machine adjustments, excessive or insufficient depth of the needle triangle, or abnormal yarn tension lead to inconsistencies in coil size.
