Factors Causing Cross Grain in Knitted Fabrics at Dyeing and Finishing Factory
(1) Poor state of dyeing and finishing equipment, including eccentric and warped roller shafts, poor roundness, and defective screen sets on printing machines, can lead to horizontal streaks on the fabric surface.
(2) The cross marks caused by dyeing and finishing plant halting, due to inattentive operation and extended downtime, resulted in roller stagnation on the fabric surface, leaving stains from the dye liquid. After the fabric surface dried, the cross marks became more pronounced.(3) Direct dyeing without proper pretreatment or improper pretreatment, unreasonable dyeing time, temperature, pressure, and dye chemical ratio, resulting in uneven color on the fabric surface.(4) Cotton yarn fibers have moisture absorption properties, resulting in varying moisture regain rates. This leads to uneven dryness and wetness on the fabric surface, causing inconsistent dyeing and horizontal streaks of varying depths.(5) During the scouring process, water evaporation leads to insufficient moisture, causing parts of the dyed fabric to expose the dye solution, resulting in uneven coloring. The spacing of the cross-sections of this fabric lacks a clear regularity.(6) During the post-finishing process, improper high-temperature sizing resulted in a cross grain fabric with sizing marks. Cross grain on the fabric caused by dyeing and finishing factors usually disappears after fading.After dyeing and padding, during the pre-drying process, uneven drying rates can cause varying degrees of dye migration, resulting in inconsistent dye distribution on the fabric surface.
