Nylon Sheet Categories
Nylon boards are categorized into two types based on their production processes: extrusion and casting.
Extruded Nylon Sheets
1: Nylon 6 (White): This material boasts excellent comprehensive properties, including mechanical strength, stiffness, toughness, vibration damping, and wear resistance. These characteristics, combined with good electrical insulation and chemical resistance, make Nylon 6 a "general-purpose" material suitable for manufacturing mechanical structural parts and maintenance components.
2: Nylon 66 (Cream): Compared to Nylon 6, it offers superior mechanical strength, stiffness, heat resistance, wear resistance, and creep resistance. However, its impact strength and vibration damping properties are reduced, making it highly suitable for automatic lathe machining.
3: Nylon 4.6 (Red Brown): Compared to standard nylon, Nylon 4.6 boasts strong retention of rigidity, excellent resistance to creep, and greater resistance to thermal aging over a wider temperature range. Therefore, it is used in "higher temperature fields" (80-150°C) where standard nylon 6, nylon 66, POM, and PET cannot meet requirements for stiffness, resistance to creep, thermal aging, fatigue strength, and wear resistance.
4: Nylon 66 + GF30 (Black): Compared to pure Nylon 66, this nylon is reinforced with 30% glass fiber, enhancing its heat resistance, strength, rigidity, creep resistance, dimensional stability, and wear resistance. It has a higher allowable service temperature.
5: Nylon 66 + MOS2 (Gray Black): This nylon has been enhanced with molybdenum disulfide, offering improved rigidity, hardness, and dimensional stability compared to Nylon 66. However, its impact resistance is slightly reduced. The crystal grain formation effect of molybdenum disulfide enhances the crystalline structure, resulting in improved load-bearing and wear-resistant properties of the material.
Cast Nylon Sheets
Also known as MC Nylon: English Name MoNomer Casting Nylon, also known as monomer casting nylon, boasts a wide range of applications. It features unique properties such as lightweight, high strength, self-lubricating, wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and insulating capabilities. As a widely used engineering plastic, it is virtually present in all industrial fields.
Currently, the commonly used casting nylon plates on the market mainly include the following types:
MC Nylon (Ivory White): Unmodified cast nylon 6 has properties similar to nylon 66, offering excellent overall performance, high strength, rigidity, and hardness, resistance to creep and wear, heat aging resistance, and good machinability.
2: MC901 (Blue): This modified nylon 6 boasts a striking blue color and offers higher toughness, better flexibility, and fatigue resistance compared to standard cast nylon, making it an ideal material for gears, racks, and transmission gears.
3: PA6+ Oil (Green): This molding nylon 6 is truly self-lubricating nylon, developed for manufacturing parts that cannot be lubricated, have high loads, and low operating speeds. It expands the application range of nylon, with a lower coefficient of friction (reduced by 50%) and improved wear resistance (increased by 10 times) compared to general nylon.
PA6+ MoS2 (gray-black): Contains MoS2 powder, which enhances the load-bearing capacity and wear resistance of unmodified nylon without affecting its impact and fatigue resistance, and is widely used in the manufacture of gears, bearings, sprockets, and bushes.
5: PA6+ Solid Lubricant (Grey): Formulated with cast nylon 6, this material contains solid lubricant and boasts self-lubricating properties, excellent friction resistance, and outstanding wear and pressure-velocity capabilities (five times higher than standard cast nylon). Particularly suitable for high-speed operating, unlubricated moving parts, and serves as a supplement to oil-filled nylon.
