Composite geomembrane (hereinafter referred to as geomembrane), made of plastic film materials, is a geomembrane material compounded with non-woven fabric, primarily used in waterproofing projects such as water conservancy, transportation, tunnels, and waste treatment facilities. It mainly includes polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE). Geomembranes are highly flexible chemical materials with a low modulus and strong elongation, exhibiting high adaptability to deformation, corrosion resistance, low-temperature resistance, and good anti-freezing properties.
Composite geomembranes are primarily composed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE), with geomembranes being a key component. As a flexible waterproof and impermeable material, it holds a significant position in this composite. The thickness of geomembranes typically ranges from 0.30 to 2.00 mm. The main mechanism involves using the impermeable nature of plastic films to cut off leakage channels in soil dams, with its high tensile strength and elongation to withstand water pressure and adapt to dam body deformation.
Geotextiles are also high-performance fiber chemical materials, with high tensile strength and elongation, achieved through needle-punching or heat bonding. Currently, the non-woven geotextiles used in compounds include涤纶短纤扎针土工布 (polyester short fiber needle-punched geotextile), 聚酯长丝纺粘土工布 (polyester filament spunbonded geotextile), and 扁丝塑编布 (flat yarn plastic woven fabric), among others. When combined with plastic film, geotextile plastic film exhibits enhanced tensile strength and puncture resistance. Moreover, due to the rough surface of the non-woven geotextile, the friction coefficient at the contact surface is favorable for the consolidation of the composite geotextile and protective layer. Additionally, they possess good resistance to bacterial and chemical侵蚀, and are not affected by acids, alkalis, or salts.
The combination of materials can bring out their individual properties to a greater extent, much like the saying goes, "Three cobblers with their wits combined equal Zhuge Liang." The integration of two fabrics and one film achieves a similar effect, significantly enhancing its performance in waterproofing, anti-seepage, anti-corrosion, and crack resistance, better meeting the demands of engineering projects.
