Boiler Component Factory: Operation Method for Grate Handling During Shutdown

Routine shutdown

⑴ Reduce the grate rotation speed and decrease the air supply and exhaust. When all the coal has been transferred to 300-500mm beyond the coal gate, stop the grate rotation; however, maintain an appropriate negative pressure in the furnace chamber to cool the grate.

Once the flame on the grate is extinguished, first shut off the blower, then open the air doors of all the air chambers, followed by closing the induced draft fan, allowing the boiler to ventilate naturally. The flue gas is then discharged through the bypass flue of the economizer.

When the coal is burned out, reset the grate and clean out the ash and slag. Keep the grate running empty until it cools down.

Emergency shutdown

⑴ Immediately cease coal feeding and remove the remaining coal in front of the grate. Shut off the blower.

Increase the grate speed to allow all the coal on the grate to fall into the slag head.

Open all air chamber doors and close the blower fan to allow the boiler to ventilate naturally.

Keep turning the grate until it cools down.
