Our FBE double-soluble epoxy powder coated steel pipes, produced by our company, have received positive feedback from both new and old customers since their launch. The anti-corrosion method of these pipes is increasingly being adopted by various engineering projects. In recent years, with the vigorous development of oil, natural gas, chemical, coal mining, water supply and drainage, etc., the demand for buried anti-corrosion steel pipes has surged dramatically. As technology continues to advance, various new anti-corrosion models are being introduced, and innovation in traditional anti-corrosion methods is ongoing, gradually enhancing the anti-corrosion effect of steel pipes. Taking our FBE epoxy powder coated spiral steel pipes as an example, the main anti-corrosion material is solvent-free, 100% solid powder coating. It boasts features such as solvent-free, non-polluting, energy and resource-saving, reduced labor intensity, and high mechanical strength of the coating film. Below, I will introduce the production process to you:

For large-diameter anti-corrosion spiral steel pipes, our process requirements involve numerous significant technological innovations in the overall production process, including specialized pipeline axial sliding rotation technology, coil wrapping closure technology, automatic central control systems on the production line, and environmentally friendly treatment processes for circulating water, thereby elevating the entire production line to advanced international and domestic standards.


 

Process Flow: Pretreatment ~ Preheating Medium Frequency ~ Steel Pipe上线Shot Blasting Rust Removal ~ Rust Removal Inspection ~ Heating Medium Frequency, Epoxy Powder Coating ~ Cooling ~ Online Inspection ~ Steel Pipe Offline

 

1.钢管 Surface Treatment

 

1. Surface treatment: Utilize organic solvents to remove oil污 from steel pipes, then the pipes are conveyed to a medium-frequency heating unit for preheating (approx. 60°C), to eliminate oil, moisture, and humidity.

 

2. Shot blasting treatment, using a centrifugal shot blaster to高速喷射 steel shot against the surface of steel pipes, removing rust layers and thoroughly cleaning off surface dust. Meets Sa2.5 rust removal standards, with a surface roughness of 40-100 μm.

 

3. After rust removal, inspect the pipes first and make adjustments or remove pipes with defects. Then, use a roughness gauge and other equipment according to the standard规定的 inspection frequency to measure the rust removal grade.

 

Section 2: Steel Pipe Heating

 

The spiral steel pipes, after surface rust removal, are uniformly heated using a pollution-free electric induction heating source (the pipes are heated by eddy currents generated in a variable-frequency alternating current coil). The heating temperature can be adjusted according to production speed, wall thickness, and curing time of the coating, typically around 230~260°C. Continuous temperature measurement is conducted with a thermometer to accurately control the surface temperature of the pipes.

 

Section 3: Powder Coating

 

FBE epoxy powder is first fully fluidized in a fluidized bed, then electrostatically sprayed to charge the powder particles negatively, uniformly adhering to the preheated steel pipe surface grounded. For a small amount of diffused powder, it can be recovered by the recycling system without causing dust pollution. The coating thickness is adjusted according to requirements, with the powder amount and production speed, designed thickness of 400 to 1200 micrometers.

 

4. Powder Melting, Flowing, Cohesion, and Solidification

 

The epoxy powder coated on the preheated steel pipe surface melts and flows when heated, further leveling to cover the entire pipe surface, especially in the凹陷 areas and around the welds, where the molten coating fills in and bonds tightly with the pipe, minimizing air gaps to the maximum extent. After leveling, the coating further gels and sets. Different types of powders are used to correspond with various production speeds and requirements for gelation, curing temperature, and time.

 

V. Coating Cooling

 

The coating can be cooled naturally or subjected to forced cooling (water cooling) after curing to increase production speed and save production space.

 

Section 6: Online Inspection

 

Once the surface temperature of the anticorrosive pipeline drops below 100℃, use a spark leak detector to inspect the coating for leak points, mark the locations, and then perform repairs according to standard requirements after deactivating the pipeline.


Double-layer fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) powder coated steel pipes are first fully fluidized in a fluidized bed, then pass through a static spray gun to charge the powder particles negatively, allowing them to adhere evenly to the grounded preheated steel pipe surface. Any minor diffused powder can be recovered by the recycling system, preventing dust pollution.
