Electric spindle can be divided into asynchronous electric spindle and permanent magnet synchronous electric spindle according to the type of motor. The comparison of their respective advantages and disadvantages is as follows:
Asynchronous Electric Spindle
Advantages: The current high-speed electric spindles are mostly equipped with an integrated asynchronous AC induction motor structure, which features a simple design, mature manufacturing processes, and easy installation, enabling constant torque and power regulation.
Drawbacks: Low efficiency, small output power.
Permanent Magnet Synchronous Electric Spindle
Advantages: High torque density, low rotational inertia, and superior dynamic response characteristics.
Advantages: Low noise, compact size, long service life
Advantages: No surge current upon startup, minimal current change during load variation.
Advantages: High power density and efficiency
Drawback: High power requirements for the main shaft motor, and the rare earth material cost of permanent magnet synchronous motors is excessively high.
