Storage racking applications effectively enhance the storage and operational efficiency of warehouses. However, warehouse environments can be complex, and prolonged use can lead to wear and tear on storage racking. Moreover, the safety of storage racking is crucial and requires regular maintenance. How should storage racking be maintained and cared for?
Collision Protection:
Our warehouse often experiences the entry and exit of forklifts and various equipment, as well as impacts during the handling of goods, which can easily damage storage racks. The most vulnerable parts are the uprights at the aisles and corners, usually deformed due to forklift collisions. It is essential to match a set of collision-proof posts with different racks, aisle widths, and transportation tools. Installing collision-proof barriers at aisle locations and collision-proof posts play a crucial role in protecting the uprights of the racks.
Preventing Overpressure:
Different types of storage shelves have specific weight capacity limits. Therefore, the weight of the goods placed on the shelves must be within the shelf's capacity. If the weight of the goods exceeds the load limit, it can easily affect the overall safety and stability of the shelves. Hence, warehouse inventory managers need to clearly mark the load capacity on the shelves. It is essential to follow the principle of heavy at the bottom and light at the top, meaning heavy items should be placed on the lower shelves and lighter items on the upper shelves to prevent overloading.
Moisture and Rust Protection:
Although the storage shelves undergo appropriate surface treatment during the production process, the warehouse environment is complex. After long-term use, they are prone to peeling and rusting. Therefore, it is necessary to apply protective paint regularly to reduce rust. Ensure timely ventilation to maintain the warehouse from becoming overly damp. Areas near windows are susceptible to rain, requiring extra attention. Moreover, regular drainage and moisture removal are essential.
Designate a specific person to use the forklift.
For heavy-duty storage racking and high-level货架warehouses, it is mandatory to have powered stackers. As the vast majority of warehouse rack columns are deformed due to collisions with non-authorized personnel using stackers, the operation and use of stackers must be conducted solely by certified professionals.
