Servo motors are widely used and offer numerous conveniences. But how well do you know the precautions to take with them? Below, I share some basic knowledge about the precautions for servo motors.

Servo Motor Oil and Water Protection

Servo motors can be used in areas where they may be exposed to water or oil splashes, but they are not fully waterproof or oil-resistant. Therefore, servo motors should not be placed or used in environments where they are submerged in water or contaminated by oil.

If the servo motor is connected to a reduction gear, it is advisable to apply a grease seal when using the servo motor to prevent the gear oil from entering the servo motor.

Do not immerse the servo motor's cable in oil or water.

Servo Motor Cables → Reduce Stress

Ensure that the cables are not subjected to torque or vertical loads due to external bending forces or their own weight, particularly at the cable exit points or connections.

Under servo motor movement, the cable (which is the one provided with the motor) should be securely fastened to a stationary part (relative to the motor), and an additional cable installed in a cable bracket should be used to extend it, thereby reducing the bending stress.

Ensure the bend radius of the cables is as large as possible.

Servo motor allowable shaft-end load

Ensure that radial and axial loads applied to the servo motor shaft during installation and operation are within the specified values for each model.

Be cautious when installing a rigid coupling, especially as excessive bending loads can lead to damage or wear on the shaft end and bearings.

C: Utilizing a flexible coupling to ensure radial loads are below the permissible limit, this item is specifically designed for servo motors with high mechanical strength.

Regarding allowable shaft loads, please refer to the "Allowable Shaft Load Table."

Four: Servo Motor Installation Notice

Do not use a hammer to directly strike the shaft end when installing or removing the coupling components to the servo motor shaft. (Directly striking the shaft end with a hammer can damage the encoder on the other end of the servo motor shaft.)

B: Strive for optimal alignment of the shaft end (improper alignment can lead to vibration or bearing damage).
