How to Adjust the Clamping Force of a Second-Hand Injection Molding Machine?

In the plastics industry, injection molding machines play a crucial role, and second-hand injection molding machines are widely used across various fields within the industry. Adjusting the clamping force is a key step when using these second-hand equipment, as it not only affects the normal operation of the machine and product quality but also directly relates to the machine's lifespan. So, how should we adjust the clamping force of a second-hand injection molding machine?

Firstly, turn off the mold lifting device and adjust the mold thickness until the mold is securely fixed on both sides, then disconnect the mold lifting device. Next, manually perform the mold opening operation until completed, and then activate the mold adjustment device to gradually reduce the mold thickness to generate mold adjustment force. Throughout this process, pay attention to the relationship between the reduction of mold thickness and the mold force; over-reduction of mold thickness may cause the mold to fail to lock, so proceed with caution.

Repeat the above adjustment steps until the winch and guide column produce the appropriate clamping force. It is crucial to ensure that the clamping force is not too high to avoid damaging the injection molded parts and products during the molding process, while also ensuring the longevity of the machinery. When adjusting the clamping force, avoid using the quick clamping function.

Moreover, when terminating the travel of the low-pressure mold locking switch, it's important to note that when the travel switch is actuated, the pressure gauge will momentarily display the working pressure of the mold cylinder. This displayed working pressure is typically lower than the actual pressure inside the mold cylinder, so it is not recommended to use high-rated working pressure for long periods during locking operations to extend the machine's lifespan. Generally, it's more appropriate to use 80%-85% of the high-rated pressure as the operating pressure, for instance, if the pressure is 145 kgf/cm², selecting 120 kgf/cm² as the operating pressure would be more suitable.

Adjust the low-pressure clamping force. To maintain the sensitivity of the low-pressure clamping, start the setting from the CNC value 00. The low-pressure clamping force should be slightly higher than the resistance encountered during clamping to ensure a smooth start of the high-pressure clamping action. After completing these adjustments, you can choose between normal or quick locking operation, and re-adjust the relevant travel switches to ensure the smooth operation of the opening and locking actions.
