Different plush toy textures require various cleaning and maintenance methods. Most are made of synthetic fibers, allowing these toys to generally be washed with water. Specific cleaning methods can be categorized based on the type of plush texture.
1. Hand Washing Method: Fill a clean basin with water, then add an appropriate amount of detergent or laundry liquid (phosphate-free) and dilute it. Place your plush toy in the water and gently press it with your hands to allow the detergent to quickly penetrate. Discard the soiled water, replace it with fresh water, and rinse the toy thoroughly. Wrap the toy in a dry towel to absorb excess moisture, and then let it air dry.
2. Dry Cleaning Method: This method is primarily suitable for valuable plush toys. Remember to remove any clothing and accessories from the toy before taking it to the dry cleaner; this makes cleaning easier.
3. Home Dry Cleaning Method: Purchase baking soda and sprinkle it on the plush toy, then rub it thoroughly until the baking soda stops turning black. The plush toy will be spotlessly clean, and even if a young child licks it, there's no need to worry, as baking soda is a food-grade "dry cleaner."
4. Wipe Method: Use a soft sponge or a clean, dry cloth. Dampen it with diluted neutral cleaner and wipe the toy's surface. Then, wipe it clean with water.
5. Salt Wash Method: First, place the toy inside a plastic bag and sprinkle salt over it. Shake the toy back and forth for about 30 times, then remove it, shake off the salt, and you're done.
