What are the differences between mechanical and hand-pleating processes? What are the advantages of hand-pleating over machine-pleating?
Machine pleating involves using professional pleating machines to process fabric, typically resulting in regular pleating styles such as pleated, pleated, pleated, and accordion pleats.
Hand-pressed pleating, in simple terms, encompasses all pleating styles that cannot be achieved by machines. This includes styles like sun pleats, straight pleats, chicken claw pleats, and also large-sized pleated or zigzag pleats that exceed the size limitations of machine pleating. These are all created through hand-pressed pleating.
Certainly, an important point to note is that the cost of hand-pressed pleating is slightly higher than that of machine-pressed pleating due to lower production efficiency and higher craftsmanship requirements.
Hand-pleated techniques are predominantly used in the garment industry, with less application in industries like lampshade manufacturing.
