The cylindrical locating pin, also known as a spring pin, is a hollow cylindrical rod without a head, with axial slots and chamfered ends. It is used for positioning, connecting, and securing parts; it boasts good elasticity and shear resistance. The outer diameter of these pins is slightly larger than the assembly hole diameter.
Features of the cylindrical locating pin:
The pin locator features a simple structure, good neutral performance, high load-bearing capacity, and excellent resistance to variable loads and impacts. However, the cylindrical pin locator requires a high precision of mating surface processing.
2. The cylindrical locating pin has a high disassembly force, which may scratch the mating surface, making it an irreversible connection. The joint is removable if the interference fit is not significant or hydraulic assembly and disassembly methods are used.
The cylindrical locating pin is suitable for positioning and also for connection. Different fit requirements allow for the selection of different diameters with varying tolerance specifications; the pin hole must be bored, and after multiple disassemblies, the pin's positioning accuracy and connection tightness will decrease, making it suitable only for transferring moderate loads. The internal threaded cylindrical locating pin features an internal thread that facilitates easy assembly and disassembly. The positioning accuracy of the threaded cylindrical locating pin is relatively low, and it is commonly used in applications where high precision is not required.
The elastic cylindrical locating pin is flexible, tightly fitting into the bore upon insertion and not prone to loosening. It requires less precision for the bore and allows for multiple disassemblies in interchangable holes. It has poor rigidity and is not suitable for high-precision positioning. It is ideal for applications with impacts and vibrations, and can be used in place of some open-ended set screws, cylindrical locating pins, shaft pins, or conical pins. The bore pin and shaft can be additionally secured with an open-end set screw, making them easy to disassemble and suitable for hinge applications.
