Our plastic performance testing services are widely applied across the chemical industry, ranging from raw material identification, chemical product formula analysis, to industrial issue diagnosis during production, failure analysis in product application phases, and reliability testing of products.

(1) General Performance:

ABS features an opaque, ivory-colored granulate that is non-toxic, odorless, and has low water absorption. Its products can be dyed in various colors and exhibit a high gloss of 90%. ABS has good adhesion to other materials, making it easy for surface printing, coating, and plating treatments. The oxygen index of ABS is 18.2, classifying it as a flammable polymer. When burning, it produces a yellow flame, emits black smoke, chars without dripping, and gives off a distinctive cinnamon scent.

ABS is a highly versatile resin with excellent impact strength and surface hardness over a broad temperature range. It boasts a higher heat deflection temperature than PA and PVC, as well as good dimensional stability.

ABS melt has better flowability than PVC and PC, but is worse than PE, PA, and PS, and is similar to POM and HIPS. The flow characteristics of ABS belong to non-Newtonian fluids, with its melt viscosity being related to both processing temperature and shear rate, but more sensitive to the shear rate.

(2) Mechanical Properties

ABS boasts excellent mechanical properties, with good impact strength and the ability to be used at lower temperatures. Even when ABS products are damaged, it is only through tensile failure, not impact failure. ABS has superior wear resistance, good dimensional stability, and oil resistance, making it suitable for bearings under moderate loads and speeds. The creep resistance of ABS is greater than PSF and PC but less than PA and POM. The bending and compressive strengths of ABS are relatively poor among plastics. The mechanical properties of ABS are significantly influenced by temperature.

(3) Thermal Performance

ABS is an amorphous polymer with no distinct melting point; it has high melt viscosity and poor flowability, as well as poor weather resistance, which can cause discoloration upon exposure to ultraviolet light. The heat deflection temperature ranges from 70 to 107℃ (around 85℃), and the product can be increased by about 10℃ after annealing treatment. It is sensitive to both temperature and shear rate. ABS retains some flexibility at -40℃ and can be used over a long period within the temperature range of -40℃ to 85℃.

Electrical Performance

ABS has excellent electrical insulation properties and is almost unaffected by temperature, humidity, and frequency, making it suitable for use in most environments.

(5) Environmental Performance

ABS is unaffected by water, inorganic salts, alkali alcohols, and hydrocarbon solvents, but is soluble in ketones. It can experience stress cracking when eroded by substances like glacial acetic acid and vegetable oils.

Performance testing involves using automated testing tools to simulate various normal, peak, and abnormal load conditions to test the performance indicators of the system.
