Same-level drainage refers to the situation where the drainage pipes within a bathroom directly connect to another building's drainage system without passing through the floorboards. The term "same-level" denotes the horizontal construction within the same floor, which ensures that waste and wastewater are discharged in accordance with the relevant drainage standards and directly into the main drainage pipeline. This allows for direct observation of wastewater discharge on the same floor and the implementation of appropriate treatment measures.

The primary forms of same-level drainage include bedding layer, lowering plate, and wall drainage, among others. The bedding layer mainly refers to raising the ground level of the bathroom, a method that is used less frequently due to its significant drawbacks and has largely been phased out. The lowering plate method involves sinking the bathroom for drainage purposes and is the most commonly used approach in today's living spaces. This involves using the space beneath the bathroom's structural floor as a passage for the same-level drainage pipes, applying a waterproofing layer on the sinking floor, and then laying the drainage pipes according to the designed elevation and slope, filling them in as a bedding layer. A leveling layer of cement mortar is then applied on top of the bedding layer, followed by additional waterproofing. During the process of refilling the space, the density and volume of the backfill must be carefully ensured. Same-level drainage can effectively save labor and a substantial amount of materials, eliminating the need for ceiling installation in bathrooms, reducing the load on staircases, and minimizing the risk of water accumulation in the backfill layer, making it the most popular drainage method.

Lastly, the so-called "partition drainage" refers to the drainage of pipes within walls. It involves constructing a wall in the clean area of the bathroom, creating a dedicated space for pipe layout. The drainage pipes are then laid and installed within this false wall, resulting in a more aesthetically pleasing finish. However, due to its higher cost, limited selection of sanitary fixtures, and difficulty in maintenance, this method is less commonly used. Currently, the most widely applied and most suitable drainage method in our country is the "same-level drop panel" system for same-level drainage.
