Does an auto-suction pump require a bottom valve?
Regarding the necessity of installing a bottom valve for self-priming pumps, here are three suggestions from our editor:
1. Under normal circumstances, the self-priming pumps produced by Zhongnan Pump Valve do not require a bottom valve. This is because the inlet of the self-priming pump is equipped with a check valve, also known as a one-way valve. Consequently, once the pump stops, the fluid within the pump cannot flow back into the original pool and is instead stored inside the pump, eliminating the need to add more fluid upon subsequent use.
Certainly, users with the bottom valve installed also have a backup, as the unidirectional valve may occasionally fail. This ensures no dead rotation, and adding the bottom valve also effectively guarantees the pump's suction stroke.
It's worth noting that if there is a significant difference in height between the intake or if the intake tube diameter is too large, the volume exceeds the storage capacity of the self-priming pump's chamber. In such cases, it is essential to install a bottom valve to ensure safe and rapid self-priming.
