Exterior Wood Preservation Construction Plan
2024-04-17
As life grows richer, people are increasingly willing to spend on outdoor patio renovations, with rustic-style patios featuring anti-corrosion wood flooring particularly appealing. Anti-corrosion wood is quite common in today's living environment, typically used in outdoor landscapes, arbors, pots, wooden walkways, and platforms, balconies, etc. While anti-corrosion wood is great, without proper installation methods and regular maintenance, its lifespan will not be long. Below, we introduce some installation methods and maintenance plans for anti-corrosion wood.
Outdoor wood should be air-dried outdoors to a moisture level similar to the external environment before construction. Using wood with high moisture content for construction and installation can lead to significant deformation and cracking.
At the construction site, anti-corrosion wood should be stored in a well-ventilated area and should be avoided from direct sunlight as much as possible.
At the construction site, it is recommended to use anti-corrosion wood in its existing sizes as much as possible. If on-site processing is required, all cuts and holes should be thoroughly coated with the appropriate anti-corrosion agent to ensure the longevity of the anti-corrosion wood.
When constructing a patio, opt for long planks to minimize joints for aesthetic appeal; leave a gap of 5mm to 10mm between the plank surfaces.
All connections should be made using galvanized or stainless steel fasteners and hardware, to prevent corrosion. Different metal parts must not be used, as they will quickly rust and cause fundamental damage to the wooden product structure.
In the process of manufacturing and piercing, it is recommended to first drill a hole using an electric drill, then secure it with screws or similar fasteners to prevent artificial cracking.
7. Although treated wood is resistant to bacteria, mold, and termite infestation, we still recommend applying a wood protective varnish to the surface after the project is completed and the wood has dried or been air-dried. When using outdoor wood paint, ensure it is well-shaken first, and after application, allow for 24 hours of sunny weather conditions to allow the paint to form a film on the wood surface.
