When selecting packaging bags for frozen food, it is essential to first research the primary components of frozen food, particularly sensitive factors that affect nutritional content such as fat, protein, and vitamins, including light, oxygen, temperature, microorganisms, and physical and mechanical factors. Then, determine the type of packaging material and the operation method of packaging technology based on the protective requirements for the contents and transportation environment, in order to achieve protective functions and appropriately extend the shelf life.
One, Health: From a safety perspective, packaging materials that come into direct contact with food (such as plastic bags) must be food-grade. The freezing food packaging and transportation process is often challenging to ensure that the entire process is maintained at a consistent low temperature, especially during transportation and handling. This can lead to a significant increase in the temperature of frozen food over a certain period, and if the raw materials are not up to standard, it can easily lead to bacterial growth. Packaging made from recycled materials or industrial-grade materials may look similar to food-grade packaging, but they contain more plasticizers and other substances that exceed the standards, posing health hazards to humans upon use.
Secondly, Cold Resistance: Frozen food is typically stored and circulated at temperatures of -18℃ or lower, especially for tray-packed frozen products. During the production process, the food and trays are rapidly cooled under -30℃ conditions until the core temperature of the product is below -18℃, after which packaging takes place. When temperatures drop suddenly, the mechanical strength of the packaging material also decreases, making it more fragile.
Furthermore, frozen food is inevitably subjected to shocks, impacts, pressure, and other environmental hazards during transfer and transportation. Moreover, items like tangyuan and dumplings are difficult to enjoy when kept at low temperatures. They are prone to cracking and splitting of the packaging bags, which demands that the packaging material has excellent low-temperature properties.
