Eight Installation and Usage Steps for Quality Flow Meters

The quality flowmeter demonstrates excellent stability during use, offering significant advantages over traditional flowmeters. It is compact, lightweight, and easy to maintain, and can be paired with digital displays. The installation and operation steps for the quality flowmeter are as follows:

Key Points of Standard Quality Flow Meters
At least a 0.6m distance should be maintained between the sensor and large transmitters or motors. Due to the sensor's reliance on electromagnetic fields for operation, it is crucial to avoid installing the sensor near strong electromagnetic interference fields. Additionally, the installation location should be carefully selected to minimize vibration.

2. Installation Position for Measuring Liquids
The installation of the sensor should ensure that the pipe is filled with liquid to minimize the impact of density changes on measurement accuracy. When the process pipeline requires cleaning, the installation location should allow for complete drainage of the liquid. To prevent gas accumulation within the sensor, it should be avoided to install the sensor at the upper end of the pipeline system.

3. Installation Position for Gas Measurement
To prevent liquid from pooling inside the sensor, avoid installing it at the low points of the pipeline.

4. Installation Direction for Quality Flow Meters
The requirements for the process and the pre-determined locations of the工艺管道 dictate the installation direction of most sensors. Although the installation angle of the sensors does not affect the functioning of the flow meter, it is recommended to consider the following suggestions to the fullest extent possible:
When measuring liquids, the sensor housing should be installed upside down to prevent air from accumulating within the flow tube.
When measuring gases, the sensor housing should be installed with the top facing upwards to prevent condensation water from accumulating within the flow tube.
When measuring liquid slurries, the sensor should be vertically mounted, like a flag, to prevent particle accumulation within the flow tube. The process medium should flow from bottom to top to avoid jetting into an empty tube.

5. Flowing
Sensors accurately measure flow in any direction. Typically, an arrow is used on general sensors to indicate the normal flow direction of the fluid.

6. Valve
For easy zeroing of the flow meter, a shut-off valve should be installed downstream of the sensor. To facilitate batch operations, the sensor and shut-off valve should be as close as possible to the receiving container. No hose should be installed between the sensor and the shut-off valve to prevent expansion or compression from causing batch errors. Additionally, a regulating valve can be installed downstream to prevent vaporization or vacuuming of the medium.

Phase-Change Flow
If a gas-liquid two-phase flow occurs in the process medium, the sensor housing should be installed upside down or mounted on a vertical pipeline. This installation method effectively prevents the accumulation of gas in the flow tube within the medium.

8. Loading and unloading measurement for quality flowmeters
In loading and unloading metering applications, the sensor housing should be installed facing up or vertically. A one-way valve should be installed downstream of the sensor to prevent medium backflow. The one-way valve should be mounted as close to the sensor as possible. In some cases, the process medium cannot be completely removed from the pipeline, and in such instances, it is generally recommended to use a flag-type installation. When operating in loading or unloading applications, it is advisable to follow the following startup procedures as closely as possible:
(a) Install shut-off valves upstream and downstream of the sensor.
(b) Shut off upstream valve;
(c) Open partial downstream valves.
(d) Gradually open the upstream valve to expel air and fill the sensor with the medium.
(e) When the flow system begins to meter, gradually open the downstream valve until it is fully open.

The above outlines the eight steps for the installation and use of a quality flowmeter. For this purpose, the most advanced quality flowmeter available is being used as the measurement tool for the main and by-products in the olefin plant.
