Gabion baskets are a type of ecological mesh structure. They are a new material structure that has been widely used in recent years in traffic, water conservancy, municipal, landscaping, and soil and water conservation engineering projects. Ecological gabion mesh is made from high-strength, anti-corrosion, and wear-resistant low-carbon steel wire with a 5% or 10% aluminum-zinc rare earth alloy coating (or homogenous coated polymer wire), which is mechanically twisted and woven into hexagonal mesh sheets. The length of the double-line hinge part should be no less than 5 cm to prevent damage to the protective coating of the steel wire, as specified in industry standard YB/T4221-2010. The ecological mesh can be assembled into box-like structures according to engineering design requirements, filled with materials such as stone blocks, and then connected into a single unit for use in new technologies for embankment, roadbed protection, and other projects. The mesh sheets are woven from low-carbon steel wire that has been annealed and hot-dipped with zinc or hot-dipped with a 5% or 10% aluminum-zinc rare earth alloy.
