How to differentiate between the quality of resin tiles?
Identifying Products Made from Recycled Granules: Generally, recycled granules contain many residues, leading to a weakened majority of characteristics in the production of resin shingles compared to those made from natural materials. For instance, the color can be inconsistent, prone to fading, and impure. The bottom surface is not smooth, featuring numerous small particles and unevenness. Such products are made with purchased materials. When burned, they emit a pungent smell, which could be harmful to the body. Resin shingles produced using purchased materials are dull in color and luster, with small black spots and a tendency to crack easily, resulting in a short lifespan.
2. Carefully inspect the overall surface and bottom layer of the resin shingles for smoothness and symmetry. Some manufacturers, due to being newly established or using outdated machinery that wasn't properly calibrated, or large-scale factory equipment with extended lifespan, may produce resin shingles with unevenly flattened surfaces or inconsistent colors.
3. Place the resin shingles on the ground and stomp on the peak weld to test them. Shingles of the same thickness should not be too soft or too hard. Too soft is due to an excessive amount of plasticizer, making the shingles unsafe for construction and prone to rapid aging, leading to issues like dents on flat roofs after installation. Too hard indicates an overabundance of calcium carbonate, making the shingles brittle and prone to cracking. This degree is quite difficult to assess. Here's how to put it: Avoid resin shingles that become flat with a peak weld and cannot instantly return to shape when released. Cracks indicate too much calcium carbonate, and failure to return to shape instantly suggests an excessive amount of plasticizer.
4. High-value resin shingles, when roasted with an open flame, will extinguish upon removal from the flame, causing a small amount of white smoke. Fake or substandard resin shingles, when roasted, produce a lot of odors and smoke, and continue to burn after the flame is removed.
High-quality resin shingles have a lifespan of nearly 30 years. When purchasing resin shingles, closely inspect the overall surface and bottom layer for any defects. Bend or step on the shingles with your hand or foot to see if they easily break. Also, check for product inspection reports. This method can help you reasonably differentiate between good and bad resin shingles.
