The hazards of noise are multifaceted, including damaging hearing, affecting sleep, triggering diseases, and disrupting language conversations; extremely loud noises can also impact the normal operation of equipment and damage building structures. The exhaust noise from diesel generator sets is a part with high noise energy and complex composition. Its fundamental frequency corresponds to the ignition frequency of the engine set and should extend to the higher harmonics in the entire exhaust noise spectrum.
Noise components mainly include the following types:
The periodic exhaust venting-induced low-frequency pulsating noise.
The second issue is the resonance noise from the gas column within the exhaust duct.
The third is the Helmholtz resonance noise in the diesel generator set's cylinder.
The fourth is the jet noise generated when high-speed airflow passes through the gap of the smoke exhaust door and through winding pipes.
Fifth is eddy current noise.
Six is the regenerative noise generated in the exhaust system under the excitation of internal pressure waves, which, along with vortex noise, forms a continuous high-frequency noise spectrum. The frequency in this continuous high-frequency noise spectrum significantly increases with the increase in airflow velocity.
In the past, achieving the technical effect of noise reduction in the high, medium, and low frequency ranges of exhaust smoke from diesel generator sets required the use of a resistive silencer and an anti-resistive silencer in series. The resistive silencer primarily utilizes its internal porous silencing structure to absorb the high-frequency noise waves from the exhaust smoke and dissipate them as heat. The anti-resistive silencer mainly eliminates the noise waves of medium and low frequencies by utilizing the reflection and interference effects caused by the impedance mismatch between the noise waves entering and exiting the anti-resistive silencing chamber.
To overcome the shortcomings of existing technology, we introduce a diesel generator exhaust silencer/diesel generator exhaust muffler that combines the advantages of both resistive and reactive silencers. It effectively dampens noise waves across a wide frequency range of high, medium, and low frequencies. Additionally, it is cost-effective, compact, lightweight, and features a simple structure, making it easy to process, install, and maintain.
A technical solution involves a diesel engine muffler/diesel generator exhaust muffler, which includes an outer casing with a smoke inlet and outlet at each end, both coaxial with the outer casing. Inside the outer casing, there is a resistive muffling device coaxially positioned, featuring a porous muffling structure that is parallel to the device's axis and has open ends. Between the resistive muffling device and the smoke inlet, an inlet resistive muffling chamber is formed, as well as an outlet resistive muffling chamber between the device and the smoke outlet. The resistive muffling device is filled with a heat-resistant sound-absorbing mineral filling layer, and an inner tube with open ends and a longitudinal passage through the resistive muffling device is also included. The inner tube's wall has uniformly distributed sound-absorbing holes, creating the porous muffling structure.
The inner tube of the diesel generator exhaust muffler is made by rolling perforated steel plates. The inner tube is evenly distributed in the resistive noise reduction device. The heat-resistant and sound-absorbing mineral filling layer is filled with mineral wool. The total cross-sectional area of several inner tubes in the A-A plane is greater than or equal to the cross-sectional area of the exhaust intake in the A-A plane. Flanges are connected to both the exhaust intake and exhaust outlet. A drain port is located at the bottom of the resistive noise reduction chamber at the outlet. The cross-sectional area of the resistive noise reduction chamber at the intake is greater than the cross-sectional area of the exhaust intake in the A-A plane; the cross-sectional area of the resistive noise reduction chamber at the outlet is greater than the cross-sectional area of the exhaust outlet in the A-A plane.
An innovative technical solution for a diesel engine exhaust muffler/diesel generator exhaust silencer has been adopted, featuring an outer casing with exhaust inlet and outlet ports coaxial to the casing. Inside the outer casing, a resistive muffler is positioned axially, incorporating a porous muffling structure parallel to the resistive muffler with both ends open. Between the resistive muffler and the exhaust inlet, an inlet resistive muffling chamber is formed, and between the resistive muffler and the exhaust outlet, an outlet resistive muffling chamber is created. The technological effect is: It combines the advantages of both resistive and resistive mufflers, achieving noise reduction for high, medium, and low-frequency sound waves within a wide frequency range. Additionally, it is cost-effective, compact, lightweight, and has a simple structure, making it easy to process, install, and maintain.
