Product Introduction

2Cr13 steel, in terms of classification, should be categorized as stainless steel, with a more specific classification placing it under stainless iron. It is primarily used in machining and offers superior cost-performance ratio compared to standard stainless steel. Therefore, it is widely applied when corrosion resistance is not a high priority. After quenching, 2Cr13 achieves enhanced mechanical properties, excellent machinability, and has a martensitic microstructure.

 

Chemical Composition

Carbon C: 0.16-0.25

Silicon (Si): ≤1.00

Manganese (Mn): ≤1.00

Sulfur: ≤0.030

Phosphorus (P): ≤0.035

Chromium (Cr): 12.00~14.00

Nickel (Ni): Allowable content ≤0.60%

 

Features and Application Scope

High hardness and good corrosion resistance in quenching condition, suitable for steam turbine blades. The density of 2Cr13 is 7.75g/cm³. The general quenching temperature for 2Cr13 is between 980℃ and 1050℃. The hardness when quenched in oil at 980℃ is significantly lower than that at 1050℃. After oil quenching at 980℃, the hardness is 45-50HRC, while after oil quenching at 1050℃, the hardness is 2HRC higher. However, the microstructure obtained after quenching at 1050℃ has larger grain size and higher brittleness. It is recommended to use 1000℃ for heating and quenching to achieve a better microstructure and hardness.
