Chimney corrosion prevention is widely used in large-scale thermal power plants. As the flue gas temperature drops below the dew point, acid flows along the inner cylinder wall, easily corroding the lining and causing the outer cylinder to crack. To extend the service life of chimney corrosion prevention construction, a sleeve is added to the traditional chimney, which is costly and the installation process is complex, with numerous safety risks. It not only resolves the issue of inspecting and replacing the sleeve but also addresses the problem of needing to stop the operation of the sleeve chimney for inspections.
(1) More critically, the general contractor for the chimney anti-corrosion work—responsible for the anti-corrosion plan, materials, and construction contracts—cannot propose any remedial measures. Apart from the grid layout, the power plant has repeatedly failed to find time to repair the contractors. Consequently, a significant number of anti-corrosion projects are operating in harsh corrosive conditions, posing a severe threat to the safe operation of the power plant.
(2) Just one week after the desulfurization unit went into operation, leaks were discovered in some chimneys during the anti-corrosion construction.
(A) A significant portion of flue gas desulfurization installations during chimney anti-corrosion work were underfunded, leading to severe leakage and corrosion of steel reinforcement within half a year.
