How to Properly Select Hydraulic Oil, Germany's Boge Lubrication Technology

To correctly select and use hydraulic oil, it's essential to understand the usage requirements, familiarize yourself with the types of hydraulic oil and their properties, and master the selection methods.

A wide variety of hydraulic equipment exists, with multiple types of hydraulic oils, each having specific application ranges. Choosing the correct and appropriate hydraulic oil is crucial for ensuring reliable equipment operation, preventing accidents, and extending the service life. Generally, the selection should be made by comprehensively considering and judging from the following aspects.


Hydraulic Oil Classification

There are many types of hydraulic oil, mainly divided into three categories: mineral oil type, emulsion type, and synthetic type. According to national standards, lubricants and related products are classified as type L, with group H being hydraulic system fluids (excluding automotive brake fluids and aviation hydraulic fluids for the time being). Further classification is then based on the composition and characteristics of the products, such as a specific product being named L-HM32 (where 32 denotes the viscosity grade of the fluid). The hydraulic transmission system of fire trucks commonly uses mineral oil hydraulic oil.

Mineral oil-based hydraulic oils excel in lubricity and rust prevention, featuring a wide viscosity grade range, and are thus widely used in hydraulic systems. Statistics show that over 90% of hydraulic systems currently use mineral oil-based hydraulic oils as their working medium.


Selecting液压油Varieties

When selecting oil types, prioritize the hydraulic oil recommended by the product, as this is crucial for ensuring equipment reliability and longevity. If conventional hydraulic oil is unavailable, consider factors such as working pressure and temperature range. For garbage truck hydraulic systems, it is recommended to choose L-HM or L-HV oil first. For low-pressure hydraulic systems without valuable hydraulic components (such as standard dump trucks) where the above hydraulic oils cannot be obtained, L-HL general hydraulic oil can be used, and L-HH oil (all-purpose system oil) should be avoided as much as possible.



Section 3: Selection of Hydraulic Oil Viscosity

The selection of viscosity grades is crucial, as viscosity significantly affects the stability, reliability, efficiency, temperature rise, and wear of hydraulic systems. High viscosity hydraulic oil generates more resistance during flow, requiring more power to overcome this resistance, which is then converted into heat, causing the oil temperature to rise. On the other hand, too low viscosity can increase leakage, reduce the system's volumetric efficiency, and accelerate the system's temperature rise.


Hydraulic oil must meet the following requirements:

1. Appropriate viscosity grades, taking into account the working pressure of the hydraulic system, environmental temperature, and speed of movement.

The oil is purer with less impurities.

3. Hydraulic oil boasts excellent lubricity, compatibility, and stability.

4. Offers excellent anti-foaming, anti-oxidation, anti-corrosion, and rust-proof properties.

Low coefficient of thermal expansion, high specific heat capacity.

6. Low melting and boiling points, high ignition and flash points.

7. High cost-performance ratio. Low toxicity to the human body.



Gear oils are manufactured in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute (API) quality standards and are primarily categorized into the following series: CKC100#, CKC150#, CKC220#, CKC320#, CKC460#, CKC680#, CKD100#, CKD150#, CKD220#, CKD320#, CKD460#, and CKD680#.

What's the difference between CKC and CKD, and how do you distinguish them?

CKC is a medium-duty gear oil, while CKD is a heavy-duty gear oil. Generally, CKC is mainly used in closed spur and helical gears, bearings and couplings, turbine gear drives, reducers, etc., under extremely demanding working conditions. It boasts exceptional pressure resistance and wear resistance. In contrast, CKD heavy-duty gear oil is primarily applied in very harsh conditions (high loads, extreme high or low temperatures) for industrial closed helical and straight gears, heavy-duty bearings and gear couplings, worm gears, and other gear components. Its viscosity can be distinguished based on the power and load of the gear equipment.

So, it's crucial to strictly differentiate between medium and heavy load conditions, which is where the CKC and CKD gear oils come into play, playing a vital role in protecting gear equipment.

1. Industrial Sector: Application in industrial and equipment rubber and plastic industries: hot pressing, calendering, extrusion, vulcanization, artificial leather processing, and film processing.


2. Specialized Fine Chemicals: synthesis of agrochemical intermediates, antioxidants, surfactants, fragrances, etc.


3. Fats & Chemicals: fatty acid distillation, oil decomposition, distillation, concentration, nitration.


4. Textile Industry: Polymerization reactions, melt spinning, thermal setting, fiber finishing.


5. Paper Industry: Hot Melt Extruders, Corrugated Sheet Processing Machines, Dryers


6. Wood Processing: Composite Board Pressing, Drying Machines


Electrical Processing: Wire and Cable Manufacturing


8. Energy Industry: Waste Heat Recovery, Solar Energy Utilization, Reactor Heat Extraction


9. Food Industry: Grain Drying, Food Baking


10. Air Conditioning Industry: Residential heating, chemical, and industrial applications;
