How to Ventilate and Cool Down Large Logistics Factory Warehouse Areas

In the thriving modern logistics industry, the ventilation and cooling of large-scale logistics factory warehouses have become a crucial aspect for ensuring product storage quality, enhancing work efficiency, and ensuring safe production. Well-ventilated warehouses can effectively expel internal odors, moisture, and harmful gases, preventing goods from getting damp or moldy and extending their shelf life. Appropriate temperatures also create a comfortable working environment for staff, avoiding fatigue and heat-related issues caused by high temperatures, and reduce the risk of goods deteriorating due to excessive heat.

Common methods for ventilation and cooling in the warehouse of a large logistics factory:

Natural Ventilation

- Optimize Building Layout: Rationally design the placement, size, and opening methods of factory doors and windows to utilize natural wind pressure and thermal pressure effects to promote air flow. Ensure that doors and windows can fully open for optimal natural ventilation during favorable wind conditions.

- Installing skylights and ventilation openings: Open skylights and ventilation openings on the roof or side walls of the factory building to utilize the principle of hot air rising, expelling the hot air inside the building while introducing cool, fresh outdoor air.

Mechanical Ventilation

- Install Industrial Large Fans: Industrial large fans can expel hot air and harmful gases from the workshop through large-scale air circulation, while introducing fresh air. This method is suitable for large workshops and is relatively cost-effective. The three-dimensional natural breeze generated by the industrial large fans sweeps over the body, causing sweat on the skin surface to evaporate, carrying away heat from the skin, thereby achieving body cooling. The cooling sensation typically reaches 5~8℃.

- Implementing Negative Pressure Ventilation Systems: Negative pressure ventilation systems create negative pressure by forcing exhaust air, which promotes the entry of outdoor air through openings such as doors and windows into the factory, thereby achieving ventilation and air exchange. This method is particularly suitable for factories that need to maintain negative pressure indoors.

Combining Water Curtain Fans: Install a negative pressure fan inside the workshop, while simultaneously setting up a cooling water curtain opposite or on the side. The negative pressure fan expels the humid air inside the workshop, creating a vacuum. This forces outdoor air to pass through the cooling water curtain to cool down before entering the workshop, achieving the effect of cooling and ventilation.

III. Air Conditioning Systems

Installing Air Conditioning: Installing air conditioning in a warehouse is a direct and effective method of cooling. Modern AC systems can be intelligently adjusted to maintain a constant temperature inside the warehouse. However, it is important to note that the cost of installing an AC system is high, and the operational costs are also considerable, so it is suitable for warehouses with high temperature requirements.

Chilled Water Air Conditioning Cooling: Utilizes refrigeration units, cooling towers, and pumps to deliver chilled water to areas requiring temperature reduction. The cooling water is circulated by the pumps to remove heat and release it into the atmosphere.

Section 4: Additional Measures

- Insulation and Sunshade: Adding an insulating layer to the roof and walls of warehouse buildings can effectively block the intrusion of external heat. Common insulation materials include foam plastic boards, mineral wool boards, etc. Installing sunshade facilities such as sunshade nets and awnings on the exterior of the warehouse can reduce direct sunlight and lower indoor temperatures.

- Proper Storage and Management of Goods: Store goods in the warehouse in an organized manner, avoiding over-crowding and ensuring there is adequate space between items for good air circulation. Particularly for goods sensitive to high temperatures, they should be placed in well-ventilated, relatively cooler areas.

- Adjust Production Layout: Rationalize the arrangement of equipment and production lines based on the internal structure of the workshop and production processes, to reduce heat accumulation and improve ventilation efficiency.
