The water in the drinking water reservoirs (tanks) is primarily used for the daily drinking and simple hygiene of personnel during the war, while the domestic water reservoirs (tanks) are used mainly for mouth washing.

In the water supply planning for high-rise construction, the daily water storage pond is typically located in the basement. If the daily water pond is situated within the protective area of civil defense projects, it can be used as a daily drinking water storage pond during wartime. When the daily water supply pipes are connected to the upper building's water supply pipes, they pass through the civil defense protective structure on the side wall, and protective valves are installed on the inside of the protective structure. If the daily water pond is located outside the protective area, it is sufficient to reserve the positions for daily water tanks and drinking water tanks in the clean zone within the protective area. In the planning of the daily water supply pump room in civil defense basements, several aspects are considered: the design of the water tanks, the selection of pumps, noise and vibration reduction in the pump room, etc. It is pointed out that the planning of the daily water supply pump room in civil defense basements must be considered comprehensively from the perspectives of technical feasibility, economic rationality, and practical engineering requirements.
