What are the specific requirements for pressure and flow in gas boosters for compressed air?

For pressure, generally it should be 3-8 bar (0.3-0.8 MPa). Of course, the supercharging effect of the same supercharger is the same across this pressure range. The supercharging ratio (area ratio between the drive piston and the supercharging piston) is fixed. However, the maximum output pressure at a drive pressure of 3 bar is not the same as at 8 bar.

Therefore, do not misunderstand that a drive pressure requirement of 3-8bar means that the same pressure can be achieved within this pressure range. The output pressure of an air boost pump is closely related to the pressure of the drive gas and the pre-increase gas (drive gas minimum pressure * boost ratio = output pressure). Thus, when selecting equipment, one should choose an appropriate boost ratio based on the site's compressed air pressure. Normally, the output pressure of the selected equipment should be slightly higher than the actual usage pressure to allow for some margin. As the pressure approaches the maximum output pressure, the frequency of the gas boost pump slows down, the flow rate decreases, and reaching the maximum output pressure becomes more difficult. Increasing the boost ratio can effectively address this issue.

The required gas consumption typically ranges around 0.6 m³/min, with the consumption not being a fixed value. As the load on the gas booster pump decreases, the frequency increases; conversely, as the load increases, the frequency slows down. Once the maximum output pressure is reached, the gas booster pump stops working and no longer consumes gas. For the selection of air compressors, a 7.5kW compressor paired with a gas tank of 500L or more is the minimum requirement for the normal operation of the gas booster equipment.
