Crack in compensator should be addressed with the following maintenance methods:
1) When compensators crack in non-stress concentration areas, they should be topped with weld repairs, just like general pipe wall cracks.
2) Compensators cannot be welded when cracked in stress concentration areas; instead, they should be sealed with an external casing. The casing is equipped with blowing brushes and drain pipes, ready for replacement after the gas is shut off.
(2) When the inner tube of the compensator becomes blocked, leading to failure or deformation, it should be analyzed whether it is due to the thrust of the gas or because the tube is internally welded shut or obstructed by foreign objects. Different measures should be taken accordingly. If it is due to external forces, steps should be taken from the pipeline layout. If it is due to inherent failure, it can only be addressed when the gas is shut off.
Regular inspections, oiling, replacement of packing, draining of water accumulation, and compensation adjustments should be conducted for compensators.
