Three-way fittings, also known as pipe tees, tee pipes, and tee connectors, among others, are primarily used to change the direction of fluids. They are usually installed at the branch points of main pipelines and can be categorized by the size of the pipe diameter. Common materials include carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and PVC.

Three-way connectors are pipe fittings used for joining pipes. Also known as "pipe fittings three-way" or "three-way pipe fittings," they are called three-way joints as well. They are used where the main pipeline needs to branch off.

A three-way fitting is a type of pipeline fitting with three openings: one inlet and two outlets; or two inlets and one outlet. It comes in T and Y configurations, with both equal and unequal diameter openings, and is used at junctions where three identical or different pipelines converge. The primary function of a three-way fitting is to alter the fluid direction.

Three-way hot forming involves flattening a pipe blank larger than the three-way diameter to approximately the size of the three-way diameter, then creating a hole at the point where the branch is to be stretched. The pipe blank is heated, placed into a forming mold, and a punch mold for stretching the branch is inserted inside the pipe blank.

Under pressure, the billet is radially compressed, during which the metal flows towards the branch pipe and forms the branch under the stretching action of the die. The entire process is shaped by the radial compression of the billet and the stretching of the branch section.
