Stainless steel boasts excellent overall performance and a favorable surface appearance, making it widely used across various industries. Similarly, stainless steel pipes are no exception. Stainless steel pipes are a type of steel with a hollow cross-section, generally categorized into seamless stainless steel pipes and welded pipes. Their processing methods and properties also differ, as outlined below:

1. Different manufacturing processes

Stainless steel welded pipes are formed by welding steel plates or strips after being rolled into shape through machinery and molds, typically with a single weld seam on the inner wall; in contrast, seamless pipes are produced by piercing round billets and then utilizing cold rolling, cold drawing, or hot extrusion processes, resulting in no welding points on the tube.

2. Different Surface Treatments of Steel Pipes

Stainless steel welded pipes feature minimal wall thickness tolerances and offer a highly uniform wall thickness across the entire circumference. The pipes have high precision with smooth, bright inner and outer surfaces, and can be custom cut to any length. Thin-walled pipes can also be produced. In contrast, seamless steel pipes have lower precision, uneven wall thickness, and duller inner and outer surfaces. The cost of custom sizing is high, and the surfaces are prone to surface blemishes like pits and black spots that are difficult to remove. Consequently, seamless pipes are typically produced with thicker walls.

3. Performance and Price Variations

Seamless pipes outperform welded pipes significantly in terms of corrosion resistance and high-pressure, high-temperature performance. As the manufacturing process of welded pipes improves, their mechanical and mechanical properties are gradually approaching those of seamless pipes. Seamless pipes are more complex to manufacture, and they are more expensive than welded pipes.

Based on the characteristics and distinctions of seamless stainless steel pipes and welded pipes, a reasonable selection should be made during application to achieve economic, aesthetically pleasing, and reliable results.

When used for decorative pipes, product pipes, or prop pipes, a good surface finish is generally required, usually involving stainless steel welded pipes.

2. For the transportation of general low-pressure fluids, such as water, oil, gas, air, and low-pressure heating hot water or steam systems, stainless steel welded pipes are typically selected.

For industrial engineering and large-scale equipment that require pipelines for conveying fluids, as well as for power and nuclear power plant boilers that demand high-temperature, high-pressure, and high-strength fluid conveyance pipelines, stainless steel seamless pipes should be selected.

4. Stainless
