Mulch Fabric, also known as "weed suppressant fabric" or "cover crop fabric," is a ground cover designed to inhibit weed growth. The fabric is woven from plastic monofilament in both warp and weft directions through a complex manufacturing process. It is primarily used on the ground in orchards, greenhouses, and flower plantations, aiming to prevent weeds, facilitate drainage, reduce pest and disease problems, maintain ground cleanliness, and provide ground marking and guidance. The mulch fabric is typically black, comes in various sizes, and is made of PP (polypropylene) material. Generally, PP mulch fabric can last for 3-5 years. The common approach to laying mulch fabric is to cover an area one meter wide on both sides of fruit trees, overlapping the fabric by 50mm to 100mm, covering and compacting the soil on both sides, and securing the overlaps with ground staples every meter or by using soil blocks and stones for reinforcement.
