Nov. 22 news, According to a report by CCTV, recently, the Guangqi Group has completed the construction of China's first large-capacity full solid-state battery production line, which is currently undergoing small-scale testing and production.

Compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, the biggest advantage of all-solid-state batteries is that they contain no liquid; instead, they are composed entirely of solid materials. All-solid-state batteries enable future new energy vehicles to travel farther and offer enhanced safety.

The advantages of the "no-liquid" battery actually stem from two key innovations in the production line, as described by relevant information.

In the negative electrode manufacturing process, traditional liquid batteries require three separate steps: slurry preparation, coating, and rolling. In contrast, the dry process integrates these three steps into one, thereby reducing energy consumption and improving efficiency.

Additionally, compared to traditional wet process with a capacity of less than 5 mAh per square centimeter, the surface capacity has now been improved through technological advancements, reaching up to 7.7 mAh per square centimeter. As a result, the batteries produced have a higher energy density, and once installed in vehicles, the driving range will be significantly extended.

Experts note that another core breakthrough, in addition to the optimization of production processes, is the change in the electrolyte.

On this production line, the R&D team has abandoned the traditional liquid electrolyte in favor of their independently developed solid electrolyte material, leading to a significant leap in the product's thermal resistance and safety.

The all-solid-state battery, utilizing solid-state electrolytes, boasts a significant advantage in its exceptional thermal resistance, capable of withstanding temperatures above 300 to 400 degrees Celsius, whereas traditional liquid electrolytes can only tolerate temperatures between over 100 and slightly below 200 degrees Celsius.

The production line has achieved a technological breakthrough, and the next step is to industrialize and implement. The Guangqi Group has successfully established the first large-capacity full solid-state battery production line in China, becoming the first in the industry to have mass production capabilities for vehicle-grade full solid-state batteries exceeding 60Ah.

Guangqi Group personnel introduced that the fully solid-state batteries currently being developed have an energy density nearly double that of existing batteries.

After using vehicles with a range over 500 kilometers, the range can reach over 1,000 kilometers. According to the plan, small-scale vehicle installation experiments will be conducted in 2026, and from 2027 to 2030, mass production will be gradually implemented.
