Bands-pass filter glass, commonly referred to as band-pass glass, is a type of glass with a relatively narrow bandwidth and distinct short and long wavelength cutoffs, as shown in the figure. Their spectral characteristics are represented by the high transmittance value (TM) and its wavelength position (λM), short wavelength cutoff, long wavelength cutoff, and half-width. The half-width is defined as the difference in wavelength (λ1-λ2) corresponding to half the transmittance ratio. The short wavelength cutoff is the wavelength where the transmittance ratio is zero on the side of the peak short wavelength. The long wavelength cutoff is the wavelength where the transmittance ratio is zero on the side of the peak long wavelength. In some varieties, if the transmittance ratio does not reach zero on the long wavelength side, the transmittance ratio at a specific wavelength is used instead.
