I. Review of the Calcium Carbonate Industry Development In 2011, the industry focused on national industrial policies, emphasizing clean production, energy conservation, product structure adjustment, and the concurrent development of light and heavy calcium, aiming to control the total output of light calcium. At that time, the total output of light and heavy calcium was 15 million tons, with 8 million tons of light calcium and 7 million tons of heavy calcium, accounting for 40% and 14% of the global market, respectively. The focus of the division's work was on light calcium. In 2012, the industry aimed for steady progress, conducting benchmarking and standard-setting activities, and publishing advanced enterprise energy and material consumption indicators. Technological transformation promoted technological advancement, further improving the industry's equipment level. Mechanized kilns, intelligent ash machines, tube drying machines, large-scale separation equipment, PLC, and DCS control systems were widely promoted and utilized. The production capacity reached 20 million tons, with a significant increase in heavy calcium production. In 2014, seven major production bases were formed, and the industry entered a stage of quality and efficiency improvement, and transformation and upgrading. The coordinated development of light and heavy calcium resulted in a complete system of product functionality, serialization, and refinement. The production capacity reached 28 million tons, with 10 million tons of light calcium and 18 million tons of heavy calcium, indicating rapid development of heavy calcium. In 2015, the industry entered a new normal, with differentiated development in various regions. The industry's production capacity exceeded 30 million tons, with heavy calcium reaching 20 million tons. At the same time, the transformation and upgrading of the heavy calcium carbonate industry was imminent, and extending the industrial chain had become the consensus of enterprises in various regions. II. Distribution of Calcium Carbonate Reserves in China According to research, the distribution area of calcium carbonate rock (mainly calcium carbonate, with some dolomite) in the world is 5.34 million km2, accounting for 4% of the Earth's land surface area. In China, there are more than 7,000 cement limestone mining sites discovered, with 1,286 sites having proven reserves, including 257 large deposits, 481 medium-sized deposits, and 48 small deposits (deposits with a mineral reserve greater than 80 million tons are considered large, 40-80 million tons are medium, and less than 40 million tons are small). The estimated reserve of ore is 54.2 billion tons, with 50.4 billion tons of limestone reserves, accounting for 93%; and 3.8 billion tons of marble reserves, accounting for 7%. The reserves are widely distributed across 29 provinces, excluding Shanghai, with Shaanxi Province having the largest reserves of 4.9 billion tons. Overall, the consumption of calcium carbonate products in China has increased year by year. The total demand in the industry's five major consumption sectors has remained stable. The five major consumption areas are plastics, papermaking, coatings, rubber, and others (cables, paints, inks, ceramics, non-woven fabrics). The plastic processing industry, consuming at least 10 million tons of calcium carbonate, accounts for 32% of the production capacity; rubber products consumption is 1.1 million tons, accounting for 27%; coatings consumption is 3 million tons, accounting for 10%; papermaking consumption is 6 million tons, accounting for 20%; and other consumption is 3.3 million tons, accounting for 11%. The total consumption is approximately 24 million tons, with an operational rate of about 78-80%.
