It's important to understand how the steel components that make up the construction structure of steel-framed lightweight panels are manufactured. Firstly, steel mills produce the raw materials for steel structures through the hot rolling process (generally). Steel structure manufacturers then purchase these raw materials, cut them according to detailed drawings, and fabricate beams and columns for construction use. The fabricated steel structure components are then transported to the construction site, where they are installed by steel structure installers.
Where does the on-site construction drawing come from? The responsibility of the structural engineer is to plan, analyze, and verify the structural design of the construction, and create construction drawings that document the structural plans. The structural drawings only include overall requirements for the steel structure fabrication, specifically the descriptions of typical joints.
Then, the steel structure detail planner uses these construction drawings and overall node descriptions to plan detailed steel structure components and their specific geometric shapes, creating detailed manufacturing drawings to better guide steel structure manufacturers on how to produce each component of the ongoing construction. The manufacturing drawings include detailed information such as material standards, dimensions, welding, bolt connections, surface treatment, and painting requirements.
In the construction of steel frame lightweight steel plate structures, only overall descriptions of the joints are included, while the processing involves all the details required to manufacture each steel structural component.
It's important to note that in construction projects, the number of detailed drawings far exceeds the number of construction drawings.
Structural steel manufacturers typically use CNC machines to actively cut steel beams and drill holes. Some manufacturers manually program the CNC machines based on information from the processing drawings. Other manufacturers of steel frame lightweight panels use the aforementioned digital manufacturing models to actively program the CNC machines.
