Knowledge about Bellows Compensators - Bellows compensators are expansion joints made of metal bellows. They can expand and contract along the pipeline axis and also allow for slight bending. Figure 2 shows a common axial bellows compensator, used for compensating axial length in pipelines. To prevent excessive compensation, protective rods or rings are installed at both ends of the bellows, with guide brackets set on the connected pipeline ends. There are also angular and lateral compensators, which can be used to compensate for pipeline angular and lateral deformation. The advantages of these compensators include space and material savings, ease of standardization and mass production, but the drawback is their shorter lifespan. Bellows compensators are generally used on pipelines with moderate temperatures and pressures and shorter lengths. With the advancement of bellows production technology, the application range of these compensators is expanding. Currently, bellows compensators can be used in pipeline systems with high pressure up to 6.0 MPa.
