PVC flooring is ideal for home interiors.
There has been ongoing debate about whether PVC flooring is suitable for residential installation. Here, we delve into the reasons why PVC flooring is less popular in the domestic home improvement market compared to the commercial sector.
(1) The term "PVC flooring" can be misleading. When people hear PVC, they often think of plastic, and many confuse PVC flooring with PVC pipes. Plastic contains toxic substances that are harmful to the human body. However, PVC flooring is fundamentally different from plastic. PVC, also known as polyvinyl chloride, is free of harmful substances like formaldehyde and benzene, and emits no radiation, making it a green and environmentally friendly building material that does not harm the body. Some may also worry about the adhesive used in construction, as there are concerns that it may contain formaldehyde. It must be admitted that many unscrupulous merchants use low-quality adhesives to reduce costs, which can contain toxic substances. But now, reputable manufacturers use green and environmentally friendly adhesives in their construction, so there is no need to worry about the release of harmful substances like formaldehyde.
(2) Due to the unique advantages and vast development prospects of PVC flooring, many domestic companies have begun to venture into the PVC flooring industry. After introducing equipment and technology, they have absorbed and digested R&D innovations. Currently, some companies have made significant progress in PVC sheet materials and PVC composite rolls, capable of producing high-quality PVC flooring. However, the overall production technology for PVC rolls is still not perfect and requires further effort. On the market, especially in various building material cities across the country, there are many small manufacturers vying for the low-end market. To cater to consumers, they push prices down, which naturally compromises quality. This has led to a phenomenon where substandard PVC flooring floods the market, causing the public to have misunderstandings about PVC flooring. To protect consumer interests, it is recommended that one opts for products from well-known brands. There's a Chinese saying, "Cheap is not good, and good is not cheap," which holds true in this context.
(3) Currently in China, PVC flooring is predominantly used in construction projects. Many manufacturers focus solely on large-scale projects, paying insufficient attention to home installations, which is an area that the PVC flooring industry needs to improve. Due to various reasons, manufacturers face obstacles in promoting home installations, leading to a lack of effort in this area. Consequently, the widespread adoption of PVC flooring in China remains unattainable.
(4) The Chinese mindset remains rather conservative, with many products gaining popularity abroad for a long time before being accepted and recognized by the Chinese. The development of any new product goes through a process of acceptance and recognition. Moreover, the Chinese have an excessive pursuit of naturalness and luxury, mistakenly believing that only wood flooring is environmentally friendly and harmless to the body, and that only marble flooring is considered upscale. It is evident that the Chinese approach to interior decoration needs to change. We believe that once the Chinese correctly understand the benefits of PVC flooring, they will be even more inclined to recognize its value. As an alternative to wood and marble flooring, the trend of PVC flooring is unstoppable.
(5) During the renovation process, many construction companies have mentioned a concern: they are not familiar with the installation techniques of PVC flooring and there is a lack of professional installers. This might also be a reason affecting its widespread adoption. In fact, installing PVC flooring is not as difficult as people imagine. The installation of sheet materials is relatively easy, but the installation of rolls is slightly more complex. However, with simple training, technicians can quickly master the installation techniques. We would like to remind everyone that when choosing a PVC flooring manufacturer, do not solely focus on the quality of the flooring; the quality of installation is equally important. Poor installation can still affect the lifespan of the flooring. We recommend choosing branded products, which offer good quality and guaranteed after-sales service.
