KC (Korea Certification) Certification, formerly known as EK Certification, is the Korean electrical and electronic appliances safety certification system, i.e., the KC mark certification. It is based on the "Electric Appliances Safety Control Act" by the Korea Technical Standards Institute (KATS).nTROL ACT's mandatory safety certification system, which went into effect on January 1, 2009.
Starting from July 1, 2012, to avoid redundant certifications, EMC and Safety have separated their management. For electronic and electrical products applying for Korean certification, they must obtain both KC certification and KCC certification (new MSIP) for their safety (Safety) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements. There are two certification bodies for KC certification: Korea Testing Certification (KTC), Korea Testing Certification, and Korea Electrical Testing Institute (KTL), Korea Industrial Technology Testing Institute. Both of these institutions are not only the certifying bodies for KC but also qualified testing laboratories.
In the realm of safety standards, all products entering the Korean market must comply with the Korean safety standard K-standard (similar to IEC standards). When utilizing IEC standards, it is mandatory to meet Korean-specific requirements, which can be found in announcements from the IECEE's CB scheme. As for EMC, Korean EMI standards are akin to CISPR standards, while EMS standards are similar to EN standards.
In compliance with the new "Electrical Appliances Safety Management Law," KC certification is categorized based on product hazard levels into mandatory safety certification, self-regulatory safety certification, and supplier self-verification. Mandatory safety certification regulates products with higher risk, while supplier self-verification handles products with lower risk.
KCC Certification Mark
The KC certification scope generally includes electrical products with voltages ranging from above 50V to below 1000V.

KC Certification Application Process
Customers are preparing samples and materials for submission to Waltek.
Waltek submitted samples and materials for testing at KTL/KTC.
3. KTL/KTC conducts safety testing; upon completion, issues a KC testing report.
4. (If applicable) KTL/KTC requires a factory audit for safety certification, and an annual audit must be conducted each subsequent year.
5. Upon review of the KTL/KTC audit report and other application documents, the KC certificate will be issued upon confirmation of no issues.
The KC certification label must include the following content:
KC Mark (including Certificate No. SUxxxxxxxx)
② Product Name (must be in Korean)
Model Name
④ Voltage Frequency
Factory Name
⑥ Country of manufacture
Double Insulation Symbol “∞” (if applicable)
⑧ Production Year and Month
A/S after-sales service hotline (must be in South Korea)
Other Information
Technical Information: Voltage Frequency: 110V/220V/380V, 60Hz or 50Hz/60Hz, Plug Type: KSC8305
Mandatory: Mandatory
KC Certification Validity Period:
Mandatory Safety Certification – None, Yearly Audit Maintains Validity
2.自律性安全认证 - 5 Years
Supplier Self-Verification -- Certificate Not Required, Verification Letter Valid
Factory Audit Requirements: Mandatory safety certification requires an initial audit and annual review
Holder Requirements: Mandatory safety certification must be held by the factory, while the other two types of certifications can be held by factories, manufacturers, or importers.
