Rope made of asphalt and hemp fibers, construction features and functions

Asphalt hemp rope, also known as asphalt hemp cordage, is a convenient and quick material for filling, waterproofing, and anti-corrosion in construction, and is widely favored due to its simplicity in application and low cost. Made from jute that has been soaked in asphalt for a long time, asphalt hemp rope offers superior anti-corrosion properties and is commonly used for filling construction joints and concrete sealing.

The functions of asphalt hemp rope, asphalt hemp fibers, asphalt hemp strips, and asphalt hemp flock are: Oil-soaked hemp fibers, which are materials with waterproof properties, serve to fill gaps, prevent water damage, and resist corrosion in expansion joints. Asphalt hemp fibers, strips, and flock are made by heating asphalt to dissolve it and then mixing it uniformly with hemp, serving as filling materials for road joints, settlement joints, and expansion joints.

Production Process

Soak hemp rope and hemp fibers in an emulsified asphalt pond for 24 hours, then add antioxidant swelling agents and preservatives to fill gaps, prevent water leakage, and act as a preservative in expansion joints and settlement joints. The general process for asphalt hemp fibers and hemp mats is as follows: clean and dry the deformation joints, fill with oil-soaked hemp fibers, pour emulsified asphalt, and remove excess asphalt after solidification and cooling.

Important Notes

Prior to the asphalt felt filling work, ensure all debris and standing water in the expansion joints are completely cleared, followed by filling the expansion joints with asphalt felt.
