Fire-resistant door material

Typical architectural drawings will indicate the fire door rating used, but they usually do not specify the material. As a result, many customers inquire about the different types of fire doors available, such as "Are they all made of iron?" and similar questions. Fire doors generally come in wooden, steel, and stainless steel varieties, with both wooden and steel doors being categorized into Class A, B, and C. In most cases, there are no specific regulations regarding the material of fire doors installed in buildings. However, it is customary for us to use wooden fire doors indoors and steel fire doors outdoors. This is because wooden doors are quieter during opening and closing, avoiding the clanging noise of steel doors, and steel doors outdoors, in addition to fire protection, also provide better anti-theft and damage prevention.

Regarding the Surface of Wooden Fireproof Doors

Fire-resistant wooden doors are not like the ones we see online with various colors and patterns when they are manufactured. Normally, fire-resistant wooden doors are produced in their natural wood color, which is the color of the wood itself. The colored ones we see online are all specially made according to customer needs; they can be painted or have decorative panels applied. However, most normal buildings use the original wood color upon manufacturing, while only some KTVs, shopping malls, hotels, and leisure entertainment venues opt for decorative customizations for aesthetic purposes.

Door Size Order

There are generally two types of door openings: painted and unpainted. The painted ones are referred to as the net size, which usually do not require any further deductions. Unpainted openings refer to those where the door frame has not been cemented smooth, and the bricks inside are visible. Such openings need deductions for both width and height, typically 3cm for width and 2cm for height. If laying floor tiles is required, the tile size must also be deducted.

Up-lights and observation windows for fire doors

When the height of a fire-resistant door exceeds 2.1 to 2.4 meters, a vision window is typically added, equipped with fire-resistant glass in the door frame. This design enhances aesthetics without appearing clumsy, and the size and height of the vision window can be customized according to customer needs. The vision window, featuring fire-resistant glass, also improves the lighting effect in the door.
