Why Would a Belt Conveyor Slip?

We all know that Tangshan belt conveyors come in fixed and mobile types, featuring simple structure and high efficiency. They are continuous conveying machines that use flexible conveyor belts to carry and traction materials. However, many friends are not quite clear about the causes of belt conveyor slip. Next, the editor will give you a detailed introduction.

(1) Insufficient initial tension and inadequate T2 value lead to belt slippage, which typically occurs during startup. The solution is to adjust the tensioning device and increase the initial tension.

The friction between the drum and the belt is insufficient, causing slippage.

The reason is mostly due to moisture on the clamp or excessive humidity underground. You can add some rosin powder to the roller. However, be mindful not to use it directly; instead, employ blowing equipment (such as a hair dryer, compressed air spray nozzles, etc.) to disperse it to avoid personal injuries. In severe situations, set up a canopy on the ground and cover the underground area to prevent water from falling on the belt.

(3) There are too many cases of tail drum sodium expansion damage causing it not to rotate, or upper and lower roller supports being damaged and not rotating. The reasons for the damage are either too much material accumulation around the machine base, burying the lower roller supports near the base; or the dust swept out by the cleaner not being removed promptly, piling up above the belt, causing excessive coal in the unloaded belt section and leading to belt wear.

(B) Excessive belt sag causes increased resistance at the junction of the upper and lower belts, making it impossible for the cylindrical circumference force to overcome, resulting in slippage. In addition to insufficient initial tension, belt slippage is an automatic protective feature that prevents damage and tearing of the belt. Slippage in the downstream belt conveyor is often due to the tail end or intermediate loading points being blocked by floating coal.

At the loading station, at the entrance of the conveyor belt, coal slippage often leads to belt jamming. Therefore, when belt edge damage occurs, it should be inspected from the tail end first, and only after reaching the head end can it be determined if the initial tension is insufficient.

Under normal circumstances, a slow start is recommended to prevent slipping. By using squirrel-cage induction motors, you can make two quick stops before starting, which effectively overcomes the slipping issue.

(Six) The belt experiences a higher tension, so the corresponding relaxation tension must also be greater. The sliding of the pregnant drum transmission is more frequent than that of the double drum. Therefore, using a multi-drum transmission method is more effective in overcoming the slipping phenomenon.

(Seven) The belt's load is too heavy, exceeding the motor's capacity. To overcome the slipping phenomenon, it is necessary to identify the cause of the slipping first in order to achieve a fundamental solution: it is inevitable to slip.

Now that we've covered all this, you should understand why the belt conveyor is slipping. Hope this helps!
