Stainless steel lifting chains can be adjusted to different lifting heights of the load, making them an indispensable and crucial lifting device for cranes. They play a significant role in enhancing the operational efficiency and expanding the working range of cranes. So, how exactly should lifting chain maintenance and care be performed?
The sprocket should be mounted on the shaft without any tilt or swing. In the same drive component, the end faces of the two sprockets should be in the same plane. When the center distance of the sprockets is below 0.5 meters, a deviation of 1 millimeter is allowed. When the center distance is above 0.5 meters, a deviation of 2 millimeters is permitted. However, there should be no friction on the side of the sprocket teeth, as excessive side shift between the two wheels can lead to chain breakage and accelerated wear. When replacing sprockets, pay attention to checking and adjusting the offset amount.
The tension of the lifting chain should be appropriate; too tight increases power consumption and causes bearing wear, while too loose causes the chain to jump and come off. The tension level of the chain is: lifting or pressing down the middle of the chain, the distance between the two chain wheels should be about 2%-3%.
3. New crane chains may be too long or elongate after use, making adjustments difficult. In such cases, consider removing links, but ensure the number is even. The links should be inserted from the back of the chain, with the locking pin facing outward, and the locking plate's opening should be opposite the direction of rotation.
4. After severe wear on the sprocket, both the new sprocket and chain should be replaced simultaneously to ensure proper engagement. It is not advisable to replace only the chain or sprocket individually, as this can lead to poor engagement and accelerated wear on either the chain or sprocket. Once the sprocket tooth surface wears to a certain degree, it should be flipped for use (referring to adjustable face sprockets) to extend its service life.
5. Do not mix old lifting chains with some new ones, as it may cause shock during transmission and lead to chain breakage.
6. Remember to lubricate the lifting chain promptly during operation. Ensure the lubricant reaches the gap between the rollers and inner sleeve to enhance working conditions and minimize wear.
